About Me

“but for my own part, if a book is well written, I always find it too short.”

Jane Austen

When I was eight years old, my grandpa (a talented woodworker) asked my siblings and I what we would want him to make each of us for a Christmas present. I instantly knew that I wanted a bookshelf. He asked me to give him the measurements of how high I wanted each shelf, and I promptly measured my beloved Nancy Drew books to make sure they would fit. He took the provided measurements, and by Christmas I had the most gorgeous bookshelf to display my (at the time) modest book collection.

Reading has been my dearest passion since I was a young child. Writing wasn’t far behind, and by the time I was in third grade I was creating little chapter books to put in our classroom library. Of all the genres I’ve explored, historical fantasy and romance continue to be my favorites, with a special emphasis on fairy tale retellings.

While I have yet to embark on any grand quests like those in fairy tales, I have had a few adventures of my own since graduating from the University of Arizona. Most recently, I had lived in South Korea for a year and a half where I taught English to elementary and high school students. My students brought me such joy, and I loved how excited they were to teach me about their culture. They were equally interested in American culture, and when Frozen 2 was released in theaters, it was not uncommon to hear “Into the Unknown” being belted out by students in-between (and during) classes.

Currently, I’m working as a paralegal in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where I live with my black cat, Freya (who is my ultimate good luck charm).
